しめ縄飾りは、お正月に歳神様をお迎えする目印として玄関などに飾りつける、しめ縄に縁起物を装飾したものです。この出雲しめ縄飾りは、島根県産の稲穂や手揉みの和紙を使用して、紙水引で紅白の淡路結びされ、一つ一つ手作りで仕上げられたものです。シンプルながらも長さがあり、飾りとして見栄えするデザインのしめ縄です。門松やしめ縄飾りなどの正月飾りは、冬至を過ぎてから年内に飾ります。ただし、29日と31日は二重苦や一夜飾りとなりますので避けましょう。
